Global Disaster Management and Environmental Mitigation Foundation is a Civil Society Organization (CSO) which is Non-Political, Non-Denominational and not-for-Profit Charitable Organization formed and Established in the Republic of Kenya under The Trustees (Perpetual Succession) Act Chapter 164 Laws of Kenya to advance charitable purpose in Kenya and elsewhere in the world.
Global Disaster Management and Environmental Mitigation Foundation is formed by Kenyans concerned about the environmental matters and disasters that perennially plague Kenyans.
The formation of the foundation was motivated by the increase in the incidence of natural and environmental disasters which increased significantly in the 1990s with the resultant wide spread economic and social damage leading to deaths of millions worldwide.
In the event of disaster strike, the poor and the socially disadvantaged bears the greatest brunt because they are least equipped to cope with the impact. This are the main reasons for the formation of this foundation.
Is a humanitarian foundation working with organizations and communities to save lives in emergencies and disasters and to protect the environment which is a very crucial resource for sustainability.
The environment is the most valuable resource that is capable of reducing the impact of disasters on humanity.
We work with communities and organizations to reduce the triggers of environmental degradation in areas like eradication of poverty in communities. Environmental protection is a component of sustainable development and this is very important in mitigation and prevention of disasters especially to vulnerable populations.
